Did you know that 44% of all bread produced in the UK is thrown away? Shocking, right?

That’s exactly what Tristram Stuart of the food waste charity Feedback thought. It was from this that the idea for Toast Ale was born.

My latest creATE Sessions podcast is an interview with Julie Prebble from Toast Ale.

Julie shares the story of this lovely malty ale, made to a special recipe using fresh surplus bread that would otherwise be thrown away. What’s even more impressive is that the recipe for Toast Ale is open source so other brewers can try their hand at creating a food waste friendly beer.

If you’d like to try Toast Ale for yourself, you can buy it from the Toast Ale online shop if you live in the UK or check out the site for a list of stockists.
