I recently met Tasha Marks of AVM Curiosities as she was standing next to a table of aphrodisiacs explaining that potatoes were once seen as a potent love enhancing food. I knew at that point that I wanted to share her story on my podcast.

Tasha and I caught up last week to talk about her work. Tasha is a food historian and through AVM Curiosities she explores the relationship between food, art and history with fascinating events. Her multi-sensory experiences range from flavoured fashion bubbles to historic ice cream served up in royal palaces.

Some top tips from Tasha include:

  • always carry a notebook – capture your thoughts, experiences and inspirations
  • don’t worry about ‘messing up’ – Tasha’s first year of study not going quite to plan was what led her into the world she is now in!
  • take a chance – Tasha applied for the very first YBFs (Young British Foodies) awards only 2 months into setting up her practice and went on to win her category; this catapulted her into the limelight
